Welcome
TO
THE
ENEMY*SQUAD
JOINT
BIOGRAPHY
Spawned from the womb of funk and soul music,
Motown Detroit, Enemy*Squad carries on the legacy
left by the great funk and rock bands of our time.
With influences as varied as Parliament/Funkadelic,
Frank Zappa, Led Zeppelin, and Sly and The Family
Stone, the E-Squad pays homage while creating a
sound all their own. Enemy*Squad’s unwavering
dedication to the musical craft, evidenced by raw skill,
incessant touring, and ability to blow the roof of any
house they walk into, has earned them a mailing list
consisting of upwards of 2,000 names and a loyal
cadre of fans lovingly referred to as "Squadroons".
The Squad ceaselessly continues to enlighten fans of
soulful alternative music all over the globe with its blend
of rock n’ funk, hip-hopera, and alterna-groove. They
have supported international acts ranging from Rage
Against the Machine, to Parliament/Funkadelic Hall Of
Famer, Bernie Worrell, guitar legend, Ernie Isley, former
Jimi Hendrix cohort, Buddy Miles, and one of the
forefathers of Minneapolis funk, Morris Day and The
Time, to name a few. The band tours extensively outside
of their hometown, Detroit, garnering rave reviews at
music conferences in New York and Chicago, a coveted
second-stage slot at Lollapalooza, a dream set at
Woodstock 97’ and a recent tour with HR of the Bad
Brains. The members share a kindred-like relationship
with many of their musical peers who have been known
to appear and jam onstage with Enemy*Squad, including;
Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, L.A. funksters, Fishbone,
and George Clinton and the P-Funk All-Stars, of whom
E-Squad bandleader, Gabe Gonzalez, has been a member
and drummer for the past several years.
The band is: on percussion and lead vocals, the immensely
powerful and consummate funky drummer, Gabe "Undi$co
Kidd" Gonzalez. The double bass attack of the multi-talented,
co-lead vocalist Kerry Clarke and Joe Heyden add mega
sub-octaves, funkin’ pluckisms, and richly, multi-textured
background vocals. On lead guitars, Maurice "Piranhahead"
Herd, legend in the making, Duminie "Doom" DePorres, and
Detroit funk stalwart, Ron Smith. Together, these cats have
enough strings of fire to get you all tangled up. On the
nastiphobic lead and background vocals, Ben "Misda" Beverly,
and Detroit’s favorite wild guy, Dan "Blackman" Harris, comes equipped with enough lyrical wit and subliminal vocal range to
incite any crowd to the best kind of chaos. On the turntables,
DJ Len Swan, ranked as one of America’s top 10 DJ’s, adds
classic old school flavor with his singular cutting and mixing
style. With all of these entities joining in a United State of Mind, Enemy*Squad is an orgiastic experience for the ears, and
combined with the awesome visual power of the live show, it is completely off the hook. So, if you had just about lost your
faith in rock n’ roll, fear not, Enemy*Squad is coming to save
your soul!

Tour
Dates
&
News
Gabe is currently out on tour with Bernie Worrell
and the Woo Warriors, so if they're coming through
your town, check em' out. It's a whole different
thang with Undi$co at the kit.
The tour highlight was the CD party (11/2/98)
at Don Hill's in NYC where the legendary
Parliament/Funkadelic co-founder and keyboardist,
Bernie Worrell, joined Enemy*Squad onstage for a
couple of stupendous renditions of the
Parliament/Funkadelic classics "Call My Baby Pussycat"
and "Good To Ya". The place was ecstatic and Bernie
looked like he couldn't have been happier. The
semisecret show at Desmond's in NYC did not dissapoint.
With the hardcore squadroons in the house, P-Funk's
Michael "Clip" Payne showed up like clock-work to add
some of his singular background vocals to "Trick Chick
Jane". The crowd was in a frenzy and the band played
on until the club cut the power on the show.
After the show, Dr. Funkenstein, sorry he couldnt' make
the show himself invited Gabe "Undi$co Kidd" Gonzalez
and "Doom" DePorres down to the studio to join him,
Clip, Boogie and Michael Hampton for a recording session.
We'll have to wait and see what comes out of that.
